Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures.  Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants are artificial roots (usually "posts" made of titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient's smile!

Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.
Dental Implants can:

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
  • Restore a patient's confident smile.
  • Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
  • Restore or enhance facial tissues.
  • Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable.

Wisdom Teeth

Rough diets by our ancestors resulted in excessive wear of their teeth, but due to their larger jawbones 32 teeth were easily accommodated. Wisdom teeth (third molars) would push the rest of the teeth forward to fill in gaps that resulted from losing a tooth.

As we evolved so did our diet and technology, this allowed us to keep our pearly whites longer. Most of us now don't have the need or room for these third molars, which can set a stage for problems when they do decide to erupt.

We cannot predict when complications from the third molars will arise. However, the early removal of wisdom teeth it is recommended in order to avoid any potential problems such as periodontitis in the tissue surrounding the wisdoms teeth, crowding, and damage to the adjacent tooth or root.

Bone Grafts

A bone graft is necessary when your jaw lacks sufficient bone mass to support a dental restoration. Sometimes genetics, injury or disease require a surgical solution in order to restore your health and function. Using any of a variety of sources for bone material, Dr. Starck can replace missing bone or add structure to existing bone, giving you a firm foundation for future treatment and healing.

Pathology

Getting you back to optimal dental health depends on sound diagnosis of any diseases or conditions that might complicate your unique treatment goals. Dr. Starck's care for you will include an assessment of your dental pathology in order address any issues and give you complete care and set you on the path to total health and healing.

Intra Oral Camera

An intraoral camera lets you see inside your mouth during both treatment planning and dental procedures. Our intraoral camera displays your teeth on a video screen, allowing Dr. Starck to walk you through your proposed treatment. The use of this camera allows us to work with you as a team to meet your dental care goals. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and discuss your treatment options with you. We want you to picture how your appearance will improve with dental care, giving you all the more reason to smile.

Pediatric Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

We Love Kids!
After finishing dental school, Dr. Starck completed a one year residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where he worked at the Kennedy Center for special needs pediatric patients. Dr. Starck is great with kids; he is kind and caring and our pedo patients just love him.
While he was a postgraduate fellow in Fort Worth, Dr. Starck was a team member of several medical mission trips to Mexico and Ecuador. He provided corrective surgery for patients who were desperately in need of treatment for cleft lip, palate and other dento-facial deformities. Today, he carries this special experience forward to all of the young patients that he treats.

Tooth Extraction

Every effort is made to keep all your teeth, as it is always the best and preferred solution. However, sometimes tooth extraction is the first step toward reclaiming your oral health. By extracting a tooth, we can remove a source, or potential source, of infection or discomfort. Removing a tooth is also sometimes necessary as a solution to problems with tooth spacing and bite function. In Dr. Starck's expert care, trauma, pain and healing time are minimized.

IV Sedation Dentistry

Different medications may be administered intravenously (into a vein) to induce a stage of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what is going on. You may still be able to understand and respond to the doctor or staff member's request.

One of the huge advantages to having IV sedation is the onset of action is very rapid, and the medication dosages can be tailored to meet your specific needs. Unlike oral sedation which is time released and where the effects can be unreliable, IV sedation is considered highly effective, reliable and quite safe when it is carried out under the supervision of a specially-trained dentist.

Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography (digital x-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental x-rays. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged helping the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems easier. Digital x-rays reduce radiation 80-90% compared to the already low exposure of traditional dental x-rays.

Dental x-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

Digital Photography

Digital photography gives Dr. Starck instant images to use for cosmetic imaging or to keep on file to track your progress. Digital images can be saved electronically and are more efficient than traditional photographs that show less detail and must be taken off-site for development.
